What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)?
CBT is a form of therapy that explores the links between thoughts, emotions and behaviours to help us to make sense of our life experiences. CBT helps you to learn how your thoughts can affect your emotions and in turn your behaviours of everyday situations. CBT teaches you how to better manage your thoughts and behaviour thus managing problems that occur in life.
CBT is a proven effective form of therapy for helping patients who suffer from anxiety, depression and other difficulties such as phobias and OCD. CBT is also proven to be effective in patients who have sleep and anger issues.
How does CBT work?
A course of CBT will usually run for anything between six to sixteen weeks and each session is approximately an hour long. At the start of therapy, you will be assessed to allow your therapist to understand the issues that you are having and whether CBT is the most effective method of resolving them. Your expectations of therapy will be welcomed at the assessment.
Once the assessment has been made and it has been agreed that CBT would be useful for you, your therapist will be able to tailor a therapy plan that is individual to your specific needs and requirements. You can then work together on finding a solution to your problems.
CBT Therapy UK is a registered Aviva Healthcare, AXA PPP and WPA provider.
