EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a relatively new therapy and is a very common request currently amongst GPs for their patients. It was developed in 1987 by Dr Francine Shapiro who observed that under certain conditions eye movements can reduce the experience of disturbing or traumatic thoughts. EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and effectively proven as a treatment for trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches and to date has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.

Sexual and/or Physical abuse
Body dysmorphic disorders
